subsidiary of Austrian Billa, member
of German Rewe Group. They are planning to build a
network of 100 supermarkets before the end of 2005. Currently there are 22 supermarkets in
Slovakia. Besides the dominant administrative centres of the country, Billa would like to
erect an outlet in each of 78 district towns. |
On a price per customer basis the acquisition of a customer base of 1.8
million in the Slovak Republic is valued at approximately 271 per customer, which is
below the 291 per customer that Erste Bank paid when it acquired the 52% stake in
Ceská sporitelna (based on the final purchase price of 530 million). After the
formal signing of the contracts which is expected for early January 2001, Erste Bank
expects to appoint one new member to SLSP's management board and one new member to the
supervisory board of the bank. |
Austrian Bank Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG (Raiffeisen Banking Group) aquired a majority stake in Tatra Banka, a.s., one of the most important Slovakia's banks. In December 1998 OMV Slovensko s.r.o., Bratislava, a 100% subsidiary of Austrian OMV AG, acquired the only one BP gas station in Slovakia (and at the same time the Czech OMV acquired all 14 stations from BP). After the deal the OMV chain will have 50 stations in Slovakia with 17% market share (and 97 stations in Czechia with 9%). |
