EU Interior Ministers will discuss biometric data in passports

Tue 08 Jun 04, 15:12    RSI

For the first time Slovak Interior Minister Vladimir Palko will be able to vote at a session of the Council of the EU Interior and Justice Ministers, which will take place on Tuesday in Luxembourg. The ministers will continue to discuss the fight against terrorism. The session`s agenda will also include a draft regulation on security elements and biometrics data in pass-ports. The ministers will agree on the amount of biometric data European Union passports should include. According to proposals so far, a passport must contain one or two pieces of biometric data, i.e. a digitized face photo and a fingerprint.
