Storm flood hits two villages near Trencin

Mon 21 Jun 04, 15:34    RSI

About 300 houses were flooded on Saturday in two villages near Trencin as a result of a storm. The flash flood wave was allegedly almost four metres high when it ravaged Mnichova Lehota and Trencianska Turna. In Mnichova Lehota the rain started minutes before 9 p.m. Half an hour later water was destroying asphalt roads and footbridges crossing the local stream. Some trees were uprooted. In Trencianska Turna, a similar flash flood is remembered from 1954. A storm also hit Ziar nad Hronom before midnight and damage there is also expected to represent several million crowns.
