A Slovak village wins a European prize

Wed 06 Oct 04, 18:06    RSI

The village of Hrusov in the southern Slovak district of Velky Krtis is a winner of the European Village Renewal Prize. Hrusov is among the thirteen villages in Austria, Germany, Poland and Hungary that received awards for special achievements in one or several partial areas. The award goes to Hrusov because, under the most difficult geographical and economic conditions, it is on the right track to protect its identity, build infrastructure, improve the quality of life and develop acceptable tourism based on traditional crafts and cultural activities. The jury also expressed appreciation for Roma integration in the school system and society, and good cooperation with neighboring villages and associations.
