PISA results not very optimistic for Slovak students

Tue 07 Dec 04, 15:16    RSI

Slovak students have average knowledge and skills in mathematics, reading, natural sciences and problem-solving, according to the newly published survey by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. The survey was carried out on 250,000 15-year-olds from 40 countries, including the 30 OECD member states. Finnish students came top in mathematics, natural sciences and reading, though blotted their copybook by coming only second in problem-solving. South Korean students were the best problems-solvers. Slovak students ranked 18th for maths and natural sciences, 27th for reading and 20th for problems solving.
