OECD PISA: Slovak pupils read too little

Thu 09 Dec 04, 15:33    RSI

Slovak pupils read too little: they prefer computers and TV to books. This is one of the reason why they scored so badly in the PISA survey recently published by OECD, writes the Narodna obroda daily. The survey showed that Slovak pupils hardly understand what they read and are unable to use the information obtained from the text. In reading skills, Slovakia ranked 31st out of 40 countries surveyed. In other surveyed fields they ranked much higher.
