Compensation proposed for landowners

Tue 26 Apr 05, 17:36    RSI

Slovakia may compensate landowners who sold their plots for the Hyundai/Kia car assembly plant for 142 SKK per square meter, Economy Minister Pavol Rusko said on Monday. Last week the government broke the stalemate with some landowners who had refused to sell for the set price of 150 SKK per square meter and instead demanded SKK 350 per square meter. But this solution has upset landowners that sold their plots at the original set price. However the Finance Minister Ivan Miklos finds compensating Kia landowners unrealistic.
