Construction of infrastructure for Kia plant started

Tue 24 May 05, 16:30    RSI

Construction was launched on Monday near the village of Teplicka nad Vahom for infrastructure necessary for South Korean carmaker Hyundai/Kia's car assembly plant. "The first construction phase is currently underway, consisting of archaeological research," Zilina mayor Jan Slota stated. He added that the plant's construction is two months ahead of schedule. Contracts for 30 percent of the 170 hectares necessary for the plant's infrastructure have been signed so far. "We believe that the government will soon solve the problem caused by Agriculture Minister Zsolt Simon concerning land plots for infrastructure that have not yet been bought up," said Slota. The cabinet okayed the Minister's proposal to buy the remaining land at the demanded price of SKK 350 per square meter via the Slovak Land Fund and not to compensate the price difference to land owners who sold it for the price based on an expert estimate.
