Tue 26 Jul 05, 07:57    RSI

A total of 156 racing drivers, including President Ivan Gasparovic and Parliamentary Vice-Chairman Viliam Veteska, took part in the 8th annual European Uphill Car Racing Championship at Pezinska Baba (Bratislava region) on Sunday. The winner was Spanish driver Ander Vilarino in his Reynard Honda, followed by Hungarian Laszlo Szasz driving a Nippon S333 and Slovak Jaroslav Krajci in a Lola S3000. The duel between the two politicians, both driving Seat Leon 1,9 CDIs, also drew a great deal of attention. Although Gasparovic was fastest in training, Veteska got the better of him in the actual race.
