Controversy around the fire in the Tatras

Thu 04 Aug 05, 09:39    RSI

Juraj Lukac, the head of the Association of Forestry Conservationists, has recently asked Agriculture Minister Zsolt Simon to take political responsibility for the fire in the High Tatras. According to Lukac, the minister should take political responsibility for leaving dead and dry wood in isolated nature reserves. In June, Lukac warned firemen that no firebreaks have been made in 12 endangered areas in the High Tatras. Also, the Slovak Environment Inspectorate said that the Administrators of the Tatras National Park removed damaged wood in Ticha Valley without a permission.
