The Slovak Language and Culture Summer School at Studia Academia Slovaca officially starts on Monday in Bratislava. A record breaking 190 participants have enrolled this year. Bratislava will host the foreign students, teachers of Slovak, but also employees of European Union institutions and employees from foreign companies in Slovakia. Representatives from almost all of Europe: the surrounding states of the former Yugoslavia or Baltic countries represented by Latvia will be present for the first time. The number of participants from Asia is increasing; the majority will come from China and South Korea this year. In addition to these countries, there will be participants from Egypt and traditionally from the USA. The highest number of representatives (26) will come from Germany, France (21) and Poland (12).

The participants will go through a three-week course. Beginners will be put in six classes day, with all participants spending eighty hours at school on average during the entire study program. A cultural program is also prepared for the participants and excursions to regions of Slovakia. Thus participants can explore their knowledge not only of the Slovak language, but also of Slovakia as a country.
