Winter has arrived to High Tatras

Thu 11 Aug 05, 08:43    RSI

Up to 40 centimetres of snow has already fallen in the High Tatras, at an altitude of 1,600 metres above sea-level and higher. The Mountain Rescue Service is suggesting, therefore, that tourists should cancel plans to climb mountains and high points in the Tatras. It is also warning tourists that mountain paths are now slippery, and that hiking in exposed areas in the Tatras requires knowledge of the terrain and proper winter clothing.
