Czech and Slovak social democrats intensify cooperation

Leadership of the largest Slovak opposition party SMER held a first meeting with the leadership of the governing party in the Czech Republic the Czech Social Democratic Party over the past weekend. The SMER spokesperson informed that the talks focused on joint steps to strengthen social functions of the two states and elimination of negative impacts of reforms on the population. The Slovak delegation was headed by SMER chairman Robert Fico. The Czech delegation was lead by Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek and acting Social Democrats’ chairman Bohuslav Sobotka.
