Cabinet approves draft investment protection agreement with Canada

Thu 20 Oct 05, 07:48    RSI
The cabinet gave the green light to a draft agreement with Canada on mutual support and protection of investments. After becoming a European Union member Slovakia is obliged to harmonize its investment agreements with third countries with principles of the common EU trade policy. The current agreement with Canada is at odds with economic and monetary union principles as Slovakia's commitments ensuing from the agreement could interfere with the implementation of EU trade tools and policy.
