Hrusovsky meets with Cardinal Sodano in the Vatican

Thu 20 Oct 05, 07:51    RSI

Speaker of Parliament Pavol Hrusovsky says that the current Slovak government and parliament will manage to meet Slovakia's commitment to adopt a treaty with the Holy See on the exercise of objections of conscience by the end of this election term. Hrusovsky said that the treaty is included in the current cabinet's program and is part of the fundamental treaty with the Vatican. He informed the cardinal that a similar agreement is underway with representatives of other registered churches in Slovakia. The Speaker of Parliament remarked that the treaty has been widely discussed in Slovakia. Cardinal Sodano said that it is necessary to continue a dialogue between the church and the state as it helps to create the best conditions for life for citizens: both believers and non-believers.
