Bruncko: More than half of Slovaks should go to university in future

Wed 30 Nov 05, 09:48    RSI

The creators of the Minerva project (raising the economic competitiveness of Slovakia) claim that more than half of Slovaks should have university education in the future. According to the report of the Statistics Office of the European Associations (Eurostat), only 11 percent of Slovaks currently have university education. Martin Bruncka, one of authors of Minerva, says that the increase in the number of people with tertiary-level education is enabled by decreasing the share of the production sector on economic outputs. As the production is automatised, more people work in services. As the demand for education rises, the qualifications of people will have to rise, Bruncka says.
