Complete construction of the power plant in danger

Wed 28 Dec 05, 09:29    RSI

The Italian company, Enel, buyer of Slovakia's dominant power producer Slovenske Elektrarne, might not complete construction of the Mochovce power plant, situated in South-West Slovakia. If such is the case, there would be a lack of electricity on the market after decommissioning of the Jaslovske Bohunice power plant and the price of electricity would rise. Former Economy Minister Pavol Rusko took Mochovce's completion for granted, declaring it was a condition for Enel's bid for Slovenske Elektrarne. The Italian investor will announce its definitive stance on the issue to the Slovak government after elaborating a detailed study of costs and advantages of such an investment.
