No defects revealed by AN-24 black box

Tue 14 Feb 06, 08:14    RSI

The investigation into last month's Antonov AN-24 military-aircraft tragedy, in which 42 Slovak servicemen and women were killed, will soon be completed. No evidence has yet been found that the aircraft, which crashed in north-eastern Hungary only a few minutes before it was due to land in Kosice, had any technical faults, Pravda daily reports. Neither the "black box" flight recorder nor the aircraft wreckage have revealed any technical problems. Investigators are still cautious when it comes to drawing any final conclusions on the cause of the crash. According to information from a source in the armed forces, however, one of the most likely causes is thought to be human error.
