Two dead swans found near Sturovo

Thu 16 Feb 06, 16:53    RSI

Slovakia could be the latest country to be hit by the deadly bird flu virus. Employees of the Regional Veterinary and Food Administration Office in Nove Zamky (Nitra region) early on Thursday morning dragged two dead swans from the Danube river near Sturovo (Nitra region). The dead birds, who were found on Wednesday afternoon by Sturovo wharf employees, were sent to be examined at the State Veterinary Institute in Zvolen (Banska Bystrica region), the national referral centre for bird flu. The results of the analysis should be known by the middle of next week.
