Dzurinda says visa issue very alive in US Congress

Thu 16 Mar 06, 09:16    RSI

Cancelling the visa requirement on Slovak citizens is "a very live and sensitive issue" in the US Congress, said Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda. He returned from his visit to the United States of America on Tuesday afternoon. Dzurinda told reporters that the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Richard Lugar is a strong supporter of the initiative. Dzurinda added that Lugar is especially anxious to see that "young people are able to travel without a visa" to the US. However, Lugar cited time constraints as the reason for the lack of progress made by Congress on the issue.
