USA suspends Military Aid to Slovakia

Thu 03 Jul 03, 07:10    RSI

The Defence Ministry took notice of the US government's decision to stop providing military aid to almost fifty countries, including Slovakia. The US took this step because the countries in question back the International Criminal Court, and have not exempted Americans from possible prosecution. Slovakia will not agree to exempt U.S. troops from the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, Foreign Minister Eduard Kukan stated. According to him, Slovakia is still discussing the issue with the US side to find alternative possibilities in harmony with American interests. Under Tuesday's decision, the Slovak armed forces will lose around 8 million USD in financial assistance.
